In the aftermath of government demonetising Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes, cash management agencies have started a major exercise that maysee Rs 40,000 crore worth of notes being shifted around in over 2.2 lakh ATMs and hope to normalise operations for the public in two weeks.Although promised, the new Rs 500 notes were not put into circulation in the national capital.But those who got the magenta-coloured new Rs 2,000 notes with a Mangalyaan imprint on the reverse felt elated and posted their picture along with the currency on social media. As people line up in long queues outside banks and ATMs everywhere, for the people who have received the new currency notes, here is a list of security measures that have been taken to avoid counterfeiting:Common to both denomination notes:Front side:

* See through register with denominational numeral can be seen when the note is held against it.

* Latent image with denominational numeral can be seen when the banknote is held at 45 degree angle at eye level.

* Colour shift windowed security thread with inscriptions ‘भारत’, RBI and denominational numeral. Colour of the thread changes from green to blue when the note is tilted.

* Number panel with numerals growingfrom small to big on the top ledt side and bottom right side.

* Denominational numeral with Rupee Symbol, in green to blue color changing ink.
